  • First, make a copy of your company file from the QuickBooks Installation folder. 
  • Now, on your desktop, create a new folder. 
  • Then, paste your company file into the newly created folder. 
  • Once done, open the QuickBooks Desktop and the company file from the new folder. 

Note: If the error is fixed, then it indicates that the folder containing the company file is damaged. You need to fix that folder to fix the problem permanently.

Solution 4: Rename the Network Data (.ND) File

When network data and transaction files are corrupted, QuickBooks Desktop can’t locate the company file on the server, leading to error 6129. To address this issue, we’ll rename the corrupt files, allowing QuickBooks to generate new ones and resolve the error.

Solution 5: Create another folder and navigate to the QuickBooks company file

If you’re using one system, then it would be easy for you to open a QuickBooks company file using the new folder. Follow the steps below to do so: 

  • First, create a new folder. 
  • Now, transfer the QuickBooks company file to the new folder. 

In accessing the same company file on multiple computers, ensure that you follow these steps for all the files involved. 

  • First, hit the Windows button on your keyboard 
  • Now, under the programs and applications, select QuickBooks. 
  • Then, after selecting the scan folder, select the option of QuickBooks Database Server Manager. 
  • If you can’t locate the folder containing your company file, tap on the Add Folder option to add it. 
  • Click on scan and let the process get complete. 
  • After that, close QuickBooks. 

Note: At the end of this process, open the company file and confirm whether the QuickBooks is working properly or if the problem persists.

  • First, hit the Windows button on the keyboard. 
  • Now, type cmd in the search box.
