As we all know, Antivirus software protects your device from different threats like viruses, malware, etc., and blocks any unwanted programs. But sometimes, it may restrict the Internet access to the QB application, which may cause trouble in performing various accounting operations.

QuickBooks Antivirus exclusion gives rise to several network connectivity errors like H series errors, QuickBooks Error H202, H303, H505, H101, and much more. Therefore, you need to provide accurate access and permissions for the QB program through your antivirus settings or from the official website of the antivirus you’re using.

Here’s a list of some antivirus software used to add QuickBooks as an exclusion, which include:

  • AVG Antivirus
  • Bitdefender Antivirus
  • Norton Antivirus
  • McAfee Antivirus
  • Kaspersky Antivirus

AVG Antivirus Configuration

To prevent the QuickBooks directory from being scanned:

  1. Firstly, close the QuickBooks Desktop and then open the AVG Antivirus User Interface.
  2. Now, click twice on the Resident Shield and select Manage Exceptions.

FAQs:

Q 1: How Do I Prevent QuickBooks Directory for Being Scanned?

Ans. Following the step-by-step information given below:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop and open AVG Anti-Virus User Interface.
  2. Double-click Resident Shield and choose Manage Exceptions.
  3. Select Add Path, then add the path C:\Program Files\Intuit.
NOTE: If QuickBooks is installed in a different folder, add that folder path.
  4. Choose OK and Save Changes.

Q 2: Why Antivirus Exclusions Matter in QuickBooks?

Ans. Antivirus software can sometimes mistakenly flag or delete QuickBooks files as threats due to the way it works with system files. Setting up antivirus exclusions for QuickBooks ensures that your accounting processes run smoothly without interruptions or errors. This helps avoid unnecessary disruptions and keeps your QuickBooks functioning properly.

Q 3: Why is my antivirus blocking QuickBooks?

Ans. Your antivirus may block QuickBooks due to false-positive detections, where it mistakenly identifies QuickBooks files as threats. Adjust the antivirus settings to add QuickBooks to the list of trusted applications, or create exceptions for QuickBooks-related processes.
